A Listening Salon on the Audibility of Wellbeing
Organised by CitySoundscapes Munich, TUM Public Science Lab, Pianeta Lab, and supported by Munich Ostpark Activation Programme
Monday, 20 July 2026, Ostpark Munich (starting at the “Fit im Park” stand)
Main event – 5:00–6:15 pm, followed by informal drinks and chat until 7pm.
What kind of acoustic environment do we need in order to feel well and stay healthy? And how might our non-human neighbours answer that same question?
As a collaboration of researchers from CitySoundscapes Munich, the TUM Public Science Lab and the Pianeta project, we weave together the stridulation and chirping of grasshoppers, crickets and cicadas with the rhythms of human breathing and heartbeat. Through a series of guided listening exercises, we move across acoustic spheres of listening, sounding and being heard, following traces and leaving trails that reveal the shared urban lives of humans and other species.
After the listening exercise, there will be time for informal chatting about urban nature, insects, philosophy and more, including more on the projects which inspired this event.
This event will be held in English and German. Sign up is not necessary.
Meeting point: Information Station (Fit im Park station), Ostpark; followed by a guided listening walk through Ostpark. Google maps location – https://maps.app.goo.gl/R5TorQ3yuSg79T187
