ARTS
The world is more than science knows. We curate artistic research to explore new ways of knowing and experiencing the world and to challenge current logics of research and innovation.
Urban Greening Lab Artists and Engineers in Residence
We are building artist and engineer in residencies in Munich in partnership with the NYU Gallatin Wetlab, who already host residences in New York City. Artists in residence will create work in active dialogue with students, publics, and academic researchers engaged with topics related to social-ecological change, urban transformation, and climate change. Engineers in residence will create forms in response to provocations related to these issues. Regular exhibitions will provide spaces within which broad publics can engage with the works and encounter their creators in active dialogue. Through exchanges with partner institutions, exhibitions will move between sites, cities, and across interested publics.

Data Shadows
This collaboration with artists, film-makers and musicians based in the UK, Netherlands and USA is developing a film on how data move around the world, changing shape and use depending on context. The movie envelops participants in the world of data and fosters understanding of how to appropriate it and make it a sustainable part of one’s lived experience.
“Weeds”
This project employs methods from artistic research to magnify plants generally viewed as ‘invasive’, and encourage reflection on their place in society, why we perceive some forms of life as invasive and others not, and what can be learnt about the design and use of urban green spaces.
