Public Science Lab at the Long Day of Urban Nature

The Public Science Lab at TUM participated in this year’s Long Day of Urban Nature with an interactive program titled  “Urban nature with all your senses.”

Across three stations, visitors were invited to explore urban nature from different sensory and personal perspectives.

At the “Fireflies and Cicadas” station, participants engaged with perceptions and narratives surrounding insects. Through sound, imagery, and storytelling, they reflected on personal experiences and discussed the meanings and values associated with these species.

The station “Can You Taste Munich’s Water?” offered a sensory exploration of Munich’s drinking water and encouraged discussion about its origins and its role as a shared resource.

At “From Snowflakes to Stories,” a playful tabletop curling activity served as an entry point for conversations about personal experiences with winter landscapes and the impacts of climate change.

The program attracted a large and diverse audience and was met with very positive feedback. The interactive formats fostered dialogue and reflection on the relationship between urban residents and nature.

The Public Science Lab would like to thank LBV and the Deutsches Museum for their support in preparation and during the event.
