Ecologies of the Machine: Landscapes of Cement and Power

Following the launch of the Public Science Lab, we are delighted to present the exhibition “Ecologies of the Machine: Landscapes of Cement and Power.”

The exhibition delves into the multiple ecologies, systems, and landscape transformations that have emerged from the economic and technological machinery of the cement industry.

At its core, the exhibition revolves around the kiln, the central piece of technology in cement production. As both metaphor and mechanism, the kiln transforms matter into material — a process that mirrors the broader transformations of landscapes, economies, and societies.

Ecologies of the Machine: Landscapes of Cement and Power is presented by the TUM Chair for Sustainable Urban Environments, in collaboration with the TUM Public Science Lab, Pavillon 333, and Proyector.

We are grateful to Pavillon 333 for hosting this exhibition. Pavillon 333 is a mediation space for art, architecture, and design, operated by BStGS and TUM Architecture.
